It's official, all DC superhero titles are facing a COIE-style continuity reset and restarting at #1, most with new creative teams. The good: Grant Morrison on Superman, Geoff Johns and Jim Lee on a mostly classic Justice League lineup, all DC titles will be released digitally the same day as print. The bad: Gail Simone's off of Birds of Prey, those high collars on some of the new costumes look stupid, this probably means everything Grant Morrison's done with the Batman books will be undone. Stuff that could go either way: Wonder Woman will still have the new costume (minus the jacket), we still don't know if digital releases will stay the current price or be jacked up to the print price like Marvel does. Any thoughts?

I've never been a big DC fan, but if they can make the Mary Sue characters not so Mary Sue.

Eh, I wouldn't get too excited, this isn't really the first time that DC's tried to reboot their universe with an event title. Or Marvel, for that matter. Never quite sticks, does it?

Crisis on Infinite Earths stuck for 20 years, and some of the changes it made are still in place. Spider-Man's still not married, there are still only about 200 mutants, and The Sentry still existed. Within their main lines at least (not so much Ultimate and Wildstorm) DC and Marvel tend to stick to their guns when it comes to magic reset button reboots, I think.

Actually, as much as I've been angsting about the future of Secret Six, it did just cross my mind that THUNDER Agents is confirmed to be staying in print and renumbered. Tough to believe DC would cancel a title being written by a popular DC exclusive writer and keep a book that can't be selling that much more, written by an otherwise Marvel-exclusive writer. So yeah. If THUNDER Agents is making the cut, I'm pretty sure Secret Six will be too.

Yeah, I'm not loving the new Supes or Titans looks. Like I said on the other thread though, I'm down with the new Harley Quinn look. She looks scary now, as opposed to silly, which IMO is a positive. Plus, she's rolling with Deadshot and King Shark!

Plus, she's rolling with Deadshot and King Shark! Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I like the new look for Harley. She looks menacing and crazed in a way she didn't before. Edit: Anything that helps separate her from the voice actor in the Animated Series helps, and this definitely does that. The Animated Series was great, and the voice actor did a fine job, but any attempt to make Harley a more serious, demented character requires that she be separated from that voice. This is the first time I've seen a design of her that does that.

Digital pricing info is out; regular size books will be $2.99 at release and for the first month. After a month they drop to $1.99. Giant size books like Justice League #1 will be more, I forget how much the price of those drops at the end of the month but I'm pretty sure it's just a buck. Some, possibly all books will be available as a combo pack for a dollar more, getting you the print copy and a code for a digital copy too. Also, complete September solicitations here. Huh, I could have swore I read THUNDER Agents was one of the relaunches. Guess not.So I think I'll be picking up: Action Comics Wonder Woman Batgirl Batwoman Demon Knights Suicide Squad Stormwatch Resurrection Man, Frankenstein, Swamp Thing, Batman, Justice League and Justice League Dark are possibilities, too. I think I may be going all digital and waiting the extra month to keep the cost down.

The Action/jeans Sups is more a "Year One" take. He won't be as strong yet, that kinda thing. The other is just annoying and I will be writing worm that finds every digital copy and replaces it with the original.

Yeah, some DC folks said in an interview the other day that Action and JLA are taking place in the past, though I suspect in JLA's case that'll only be for a couple of story arcs.

I feel kind of bad about going as heavily into digital as I have been lately, but my comic shop just doesn't get a lot of the books I want or they get them in late. Just today I had to pass on the latest Hack/Slash because they got it 2 weeks late and I'd already nabbed it on Comixology for a buck less. Sucks, but I just can't justify paying more when I'm getting the books late or possibly never.
