So I haven't played much yet, for the same reasons I suspect as some others are busy this weekend, but Damn it is pretty, and it sure as shootin' is nice to be playing a game that doesn't assign points at levels. Shoot bow, get better at at, throw a fireball, get better at that school of magic, swing a one handed sword ok one handed weapons got better. Race help determine your starting point but from then, all up to you. Jeez remember how much better WoW was when that was how it worked.? Or SW:G? Yeah I know to hard cept for the hard core.
Is really pretty though and some great graphic tweaks on line if you're playing PC version.

reason 36 why I need a copy.
P.S. since i was a Maxed Dancer in SW:G I really do like this level theory it is very open to individuality, sadly all the new and modern MMOs fallow the route of Modern WOW.

It really is a fucking amazing game. I'd originally planned to blow it off until the Steam Christmas sale, but after reading reviews and considering I had a few extra bucks, I grabbed it. Really, really glad I did. I haven't even been fooling with the main quest up until now, got to level 13 doing Whiterun side quests and Companions stuff.
Do the Companions quests. Trust me. Not all of them are brilliant, but the overall storyline is just great.

I'm a big fan of the way the leveling system works in this, it feels like your skills evolve very naturally, no micromanaging needed. It's also nice how easy it is to acquire followers (I'm currently on my third one...). There's lots of small improvements along these lines that have been adapted from Fallout 3.
And I'll just leave this little piece of amusement here as well...

Been playing it almost nonstop since I got it. It's incredible.
The Companions questline was awesome. Also, I panicked like crazy when I came out of a vampire cave, and some random passerby commented "Hey, you look a little pale..."
I immediately open up the magic tab and go to active effects, and there it is, staring me in the face: Sanguinare Vampiris.
Luckily at that stage, I was able to down a Cure Disease potion to fix it, but apparently if you let it progress it's quite costly to remove full on Vampirism.
Also, yeah, have barely done any of the main questline, and I'm level 23, and my questlog grows faster than I can keep up with it...and this is with me purposefully avoiding quests from any town other than Whiterun.
Lastly: FUCKING ELVES ARGHHH! Ran into a group of three elves randomly out in the wilderness, and they start shouting Elven racist crap at me while trying to kill me. Two of the elves get blown to bits in one spell, the other elf has more hit points than God, summons Lightning Elementals and throws lightning spells nonstop at me. I tried to kill her like 7 or 8 times before I realized I wasn't even making a dent after throwing like 50 fireballs at her, and so I just ran. FUCKING ELVES, ARGHHHHHHHHHH. The lesson in this: Beware the wandering packs of Elven racists, they will blast the shit out of you.

I don't have the game but I've been watching someone play through it and it looks incredible enough that I'm considering getting it myself at some point (and it's not even the kind of game I like to play normally - but hey, this is how I got Dungeon Defenders and that's awesome too).
One thing though - beware the bears. Colbert was right.

BTW, if you're interested in tweaking and tuning Skyrim up, check this out. It's worth the read just to find out what to change to get rid of mouse acceleration.

Yeah, the fox thing is the first tweak I did, remember it gets a little weird after 180, no one can see that wide. Some of th changes to the shadow and texture maps are worth it too. You guy's levels amaze me, I"m still running round the the mill hunting bandit and dugar or dragar or whatever.

This guy here has some great tweaks posted; I haven't used most of his stuff but I did use steps 5 and 6 of his tweak guide and they very noticably boosted my performance and image quality. Great stuff.

If you want to break the game and make everything stupidly easy, try and get Smithing and Enchanting maxed as quickly as possible. Not hard to do, you can just grind out low level smithing gear and enchantments to get them up. Then make Legendary upgraded Daedric Armor and Weapons, and dual enchant them with whatever you want.
Turns out the game isn't very difficult after that. Still fun as hell.
I fraps'd some Skyrim tonight, it's uploading as we speak. Mostly Stormcloak story mission stuff, so if you haven't done those missions and you're not Imperial scum (ie you're not siding with the Empire against the Stormcloaks), don't watch em. I'll link said videos here once they're done uploading.
Edit:
Here we go, first video. Most of it is dialogue. I'm considering cutting out the dialogue and story parts of future videos. Would make the uploads smaller, at least...but then again, the dialogue is a huge part of the game. Anyway...

Ok, picked up summon familer as a joke....Cast it, my warrior Jack Wolfeson (come on what didst thou expect) summoned a Wolf.........<blink>...... Stupid game. Oh, and am I the only one who likes the 3rd person view better? I hunt with bow 1st person most of the time, but I love watching the enviroment....(and of course the cheat it provides over normal vision)

Third person is really good if you're melee, and I like playing in third person, but I found very early on that it was much easier to play a mage in first person. Targeting spells and the like was far more accurate.
