www.frozensynapse.com/This game came out recently, it's sort of like turning the planning mode from the Rainbow Six games into a complete tactical strategy game. I decided to pick it up on Steam since it's only $20, and it comes with a free gift copy. Anyone else want to give it a try?

Gifted!
Anyone else who's interested, if you get it now you get a 20% discount and an extra copy for a friend, so if people are interested we could easily get enough copies for everyone for a bargain price.
After trying it out for a bit, I think I can describe the game a bit better: essentially, the way it works is that both you and your opponent make your plan simultaneously, without seeing what the other is planning, and they both play out at the same time. There's no randomness involved in the game - it might look like the machine guns are spraying everywhere, but that's just an effect; what's actually going on is the game calculates the amount of time it takes to line up a "kill shot" based on things like range, cover, movement, etc. The different weapons all have the same lethality, the difference is in their range and basic time to kill (for example, shotguns are very fast but can't fire beyond a certain range, while snipers are very long range but incredibly slow). Explosives differ in that they're always fired manually by giving orders rather than your units shooting automatically; you can also destroy walls with explosives so they can really change your tactics.
I've only tried the single player so far, but multiplayer is essentially the same idea but with human opponents. What's kind of neat is that you don't have to both be playing the game at the same time; you can lock in your turn and then do something else, and the game will send you an e-mail when your opponent does their turn, so you can have games spread out over a week or so if you can't both find the time to be online at the same time.

So Frozen Synapse has a way to export match replays directly to youtube from in-game. Needless to say, I have finally found a use for my youtube account:
