Since computer problems happen to the best of us a inopportune times, I thought it might be nice to create a thread where you can bitch about them to an audience who can offer sympathy and/or technical advice/mockery. Extremely technical mockery.
For instance, this opening post was typed out on an iPad, since my power supply burnt itself out, and I can't get a replacement right at the moment, due to financial troubles. So now I'm waiting until I can afford new parts for a computer before I do anything.
Sucks, but niching I can really do but put up with weird autocorrect translations like nothing turning into niching.

Ahh the long list, Overheating Video Cards. Crashing Hard Drives. The list is a long one, I have two singular talents. First I love Computers and technology and have learned a lot about fixing them and using them to the fullest potential. Second I am a Natural Mage, Which means Technology doesn't like me being to close, I use to brake electronics by looking at them. Fortunately about fifteen years ago I realized this and take counter measures in how I approach electronics. Even then every so often I will get random blue screens of death while checking email, on windows seven with a fairly new computer. and don't ask me what happens to linux machines..

Interestingly I have the opposite effect as Sharky. I've been known to magically fix computers just by touching them.

Until recently I was sharing a computer with Mr Sare. First my computer's hard drive and motherboard died. So it took a month to fix that. Then Mr. Sare's motherboard died. So we bought a new motherboard for his computer, but it was the wrong size for his RAM. So we bought some new RAM and fitted that.
Half an hour after that, his graphics card died.
After that I was banned from touching anything but the keyboard, just in case.

Yeah, I'm going to echo Caios here. I've never had a single piece of computer hardware fail on me. Ever.
I have a computer from like 1995 that still works.

The only thing I've ever had die on me is a power supply (which I think was from a power surge. I bought a surge protector after that happened). What are you guys DOING to your machines?
(well technically I also had some bad RAM once, but it was like that right out of the package so it wasn't my fault)

The only thing I've had happen to my systems was waaaay back in the day before I knew what a computer virus was. After that, I always used protection.
Other than that, I have had no issues. My brother and my best friend on the other hand...it's like they can't keep a system running for even a week without some mortal computer wound occuring.

I've been mostly trouble-free, but when I have problems they tend to be computer-killing problems. This rig's been pretty good to me though, other than the cheap off-brand solid state drive that died on me. Should have seen that coming, though.

OK, here's a problem. Steam's downloading really slow tonight, and updating my ipad to iOS 5 wiped out all my apps so I have to redownload everything.
EPIC. RAEG.

On my 3gs it hardly looks different, all I get new is iCloud, and after the hype I'm unimpressed. Granted iCloud is a good thing.

I think the main benefits are iCloud and being able to update via wifi. As aggravating as the update has been (finally got all my crap redownloaded tonight), I'm psyched just for that.
