So, on a whim, I decided to give Champions another go, see how things had changed, on the F2P side of it... surprisingly, I had enough fun that I ponied up the tokens necessary to activate the Impulse archetype and convert Stern Impact. Force-bubble goodness. I also created Mr. C over there as the Soldier archetype.
Anyone still playing over there, or even on CoH for that matter? Every time I log in, I don't really see anyone there.

I've been playing CO a bit lately, I like it enough that I resubbed but I don't know if I like it enough to stay subbed and play it seriously. I dunno, I'm kind of soured on RP and I'm not sure there's enough for me to stick with a CoH/CO style MMO without RPing.

I am considering resubbing to Champions. It looks alot more interesting these days...but I'm still not sure if I want to pony up the $15. Call me old fashioned.
I might nab it for a month and see where my interest goes. When I can put down Terraria.

Yeah, same here. I'm thinking I may just get a one-month "game card" to see if it's really worth the time/effort. I'd do a lifetime, but I don't have the $300 to spare right now.

There is no RP in any dojo. Been playing rift cause my goal of maxing out a WoW character after 7 years disappeared when I saw how pretty rift is. Sword, magic, and particle effects, mmm.

Let me know if Champions is fun solo play because I do have a lifetime sub and when I'm less stressed and have some free time I could be convinced to play again.

It's fun solo play provided you have a reasonably good free form character. Playing with archetypes, I found it okay but not great. I may not have been playing the strongest solo archetypes though, I didn't try any of the caster types and I've read they're better solo builds.

I have to say, and it's been awhile, the tech/mad science type in Champion was a blast.

I gave into that evil guy on my shoulder and got me a one month sub to see if I get back into it or not. Not surprisingly, you can find me mattbrp.

So Cryptic Studios has been bought by Perfect World. I want to cry, but some how I feel nothing, its sad that Cryptic is no longer working with Atari, and Perfect World MMOs are all F2P so it kinda makes sense. But it still is a bit sad. www.zam.com/story.html?story=27404www.perfectworld.com/

Old news. Purchase occured on May 31st. Complete hand over wasn't until late this week. Also was pretty much the best inevitable thing that could have occured seeing as it was pretty much broke-ass atari that bought them. They could have just laid them off and closed it up.

Yeah, being sold by Atari to another company is kind of like screwing up at your job editing goat porn and being punished with a transfer to the kung-fu movie department and a 10% raise on top of it. Once you read past the word "punishment" you realize it's actually kind of an upgrade. Atari's really not the company you want publishing your games if you have any choice in the matter.

Exactly this. Atari is a sinking ship. Cryptic being handed off to PWE is a good thing for Cryptic. PWE has the resources to keep them going. The acquisition of Cryptic is also really good for PWE, as it gives them the ability to now develop MMOs that appeal to a more western audience, as opposed to their more Eastern oriented offerings currently.

Heh...Maybe now we'll see more MMOs from PWE that don't look exactly the same? Hopefully. They're not the only F2P MMO publisher doing this either, Gamers First picked up APB and are partnered with the Fallen Earth devs now. I see this as a pretty good thing overall; it's seemed to me for a while that most recent MMOs have come out with big name developers working on them, flopped, then quietly turned into much better games under less well-known and experienced developers. CO's a pretty good example, as is AoC. I'm curious as to how WAR is doing now that Mark Jacobs is long gone, but not curious enough to reinstall and try it.
