Everquest 2 has F2P and traditional sub-only servers, so it's basically in the same boat as CoH.
Now I may even consider picking up DCUO.

Completely expected, considering the amount of support SoE seemed to be giving this game (IE: None)

DCUO is a TON of fun riiiight up until the level cap.
Give it a whirl once it's free, but don't stay too long.

So it's free, and on Steam now. Do we still have an SG there?

Might consider re-installing it if there's enough interest.

Played it for an hour and realised exactly why I stopped playing it in the first place.

I didn't even get that far, I got close to finishing remaking Warp Factor and the game crashed on me. I got pissed and booted up Fallen Earth. Turns out, Fallen Earth is really good now if you can overlook the horrible character animations. Sorry, DCUO. It's not you, it's me.

I'd honestly give DCUO a shot. It's a genuinely fun game, and it's definitely worth the price now (free).
Just think of it as a game that ends soon after you reach level cap. The problem with DCUO is that it relies on a raid/dungeon model for gear advancement at the level cap, and their raids/dungeons are terrible.

yeah, the crashing is being addressed, seems their player base has increased by close to 1000 percent for some reason... It's better now, but evenings there's a que to get in
