Taken on test. I like the looks of the weapons but I'm concerned about just how slow it is without momentum. A lot will ride on how long it takes to build up a good momentum charge.

Eh, not thrilled in all honesty. I'll probably come up with a concept later down the line but I'm still hanging out for Staff Melee.

I think there will be a lot of Guts clones with this one.

I think there will be a lot of Guts clones with this one. Keep an eye on Atlas Park after it goes live. Likely there's going to be at least fifty Cloud Strife clones, four Knightmare's from Soul Calibur and yes, certainly more than a few Guts clones. Gonna be like '2 for 1 Knives day' all over again.

Most definitely. I mean he's the very definition of that set. Especially in that first fight in the manga where his hand got broken and he couldn't hold his sword, he simply lays it on his arm, grabs the grip with his teeth and swings it that way. If that ain't the very definition of the set's description, I dunno what is.
(also, as a note. the first verison I made, pre-Willpower, was a regen. It was eiother that or super reflexes and it seemed a better fit at the time.

I got the chance to a last try out the new Titan Weapon set. Let me say it's a funny thing seeing 5 people running around the sewer trial with big giant swords swinging around everything. I do feel the options in Titan Weapon models is a bit limited at the moment, but you can expect that to change eventually.
The set itself is in many ways your basic melee weapon set, not unlike Broadsword or Katana. Ultimately the momentum mechanic makes the whole set. Changing your attack animations drastically changes your damage output and the game experience as you fire off attacks one right after the other. As a result the net gameplay of the set becomes something like this...
1) Slow Animation attack to ramp up with and gain momentum. 2) Gain Momentum -> SPAM ALL ATTACKS WHILE I HAZ TEH MOMENTUM!!! => OMGWTFBBQ!!!1!!11! 3) Momentum over, *sigh*, back to step 1
Essentially you end up wanting to use the slow animations as much as possible. The interesting thing is, even the long animation version of your attacks aren't actually that slow. In general most attacks seem to be 2 second animations that get brought down to 1. While that is a significant improvement, the base ability with its longer animation is still a pretty decent attack, so you're not actually losing that much when you use it. It's just things get so much more intense once momentum is up. It's akin to Shadow Maul from Dark Melee, which is actually pretty decent DPS even against a single target, and becomes amazing DPS once you manage to hit multiple targets. However because of its longer animation people feel like it's not worth it, plus you really notice when it misses.
Titan Weapons has a few other goodies on top of that. Some of the secondary effects of the set ( such as with shatter armor ) are just awesome. Also it has a ton of AOE, mainly from cone attacks. The very first power in the set, in fact, is one of the best for any melee set. Like most t1 powers it does nominal damage but recharges quickly. However in this case it is also a cone attack and it functions as the set's Parry attack, so using it give you a defensive bonus as well. And because it's a cone it's more likely to hit meaning that you are far more likely to gain both the defense bonus and the momentum that comes with hitting. Makes for an ideal starter to any attack chain in the set.
Overall I had alot of fun with it. But whether it will be fun for everyone really depends on the person playing. Some people probably won't enjoy being forced to deal with long animations in order to use the cool momentum animations, and it can get frustrating for people like this to have to switch back and forth between having and gaining momentum. Already people are complaining as much on the forums, however I hope they don't change that personally. Many of the things people are complaining about are the very things that make the set so interesting to play with, i.e. having to remain aware of your momentum state, and having momentum only attacks. Besides there is no shortage of options for people who don't want to deal with that hassle.
Now to decide if I should be smacking people with a massive sword or a massive axe...

I'm waiting for a giant scythe customization option, myself Pinny, are you a Soul Eater Fan? I don't really watch anime that much anymore, so no. I'm just easily amused by the thought of a small girl wielding a giant scythe while avoiding every single attack thrown at her (Titan Weapons/Super Reflexes)
