Right, so, here's what I think so far. The short version.

Overall I like it. It's fun to play. It's definately more action oriented and I really do enjoy the combat system, surprisingly enough. The combos you do with your main weapon attacks are particularly fun to play with.

It doesn't seem grindy at all, and all of the quest chains are heavily story driven so they're alot of fun to get into. However a lot of that could simply be due to the fact that it's new more so then anything else.

That said the DC liscence is a huge selling point here, even if you're not a hardcore DC comic book fun. ( Though obviously it is if you're really into that sort of stuff, Warp. )
No matter what you get a real kick out of fighting and interacting with all of the cool characters out of the DC universe. I particularly love all the VO they did for this game, and all the awesome people they got to do it.

The gear system works really well too, being able to pick how you want to look from the start is great, but combined with being able to pick up better gear and being able to show it or not according to your personal preffence is great too. It's kinda like the best of both worlds.

I personally had no trouble with the interface on PC once I got used to it. In some ways it works really well, in others it's definately clunky by comparison, but overall it's not as bad as people make it out to be. The real issue is that the interface kinda tends to get in the way of alot of social interactions. But again there are plenty of ways around that once you get used to the interface. Plus the devs have stated that this is an issue they are definitely keeping their eye on.

It's definitely not a CoH replacement. I don't think there's enough here to jump ship completely over. But it is different enough that you can play both games pretty comfortably. For me at least I'm enjoying playing this game solo, which is a huge plus, something few mmos ever seem to get right. However in the end this game may end up being nothing more then a better version of Champions Online. Only time will tell if this game is worth the effort.

For people who are playing this, make sure to head over to the Vice and Virtue server. Not surprisingly that's were most Virtueites tend to end up.

I must resist the temptation, after all, I have a bad habit of being pulled into Shiny Pretty Sparkly things, which I start having fun with and then everyone starts to vanish, and then I go back to the same old same old, while waiting for the next big thing… SWtOR, I can wait.

Yep, I'm playing too. On Virtue and Vice, look for Blacktide or Shockwing. More alts will no-doubt emerge in time but I'm all good for teamage.

I just hit 30 on Caios yesterday, leveling is really fast.

Nice thing about Virtue and Vice, it's become the unofficial RP server thanks to all the CoH virtue vets there.

OK, on Virtue with Warp Factor, Umbra Wind and Astraea Steren. Of them, Warp is the only one that probably won't be deleted and remade sometime soon. So far I like it, it needs some polish and refining but it's a hell of a foundation.

I went ahead and bought this for both myself and Eveningstar. The day or so I spent in the trial convinced me.

I really like it. There's a lack of content I think on most fronts (The levels seem to be flying by quickly, I don't know what sort of endgame there might be, and the power options are absurdly limited), but those things will be remedied over time.

It's just fun to play. That's all there is to it. It's fun running around with acrobatics. It's fun beating bad guys up with martial arts while laying down sticky bombs and roping them in with taser lines.

We should start a league, for sure. Eveningstar and I will be making characters to play together with this evening once her download is done.

So what do we want to go with for a league name? The Urban Legends or The Guardian Angels would be the obvious options, and both are very cool names, though I know one of the original leaders of the CoH Urban Legends is playing so I'd have to check and make sure she isn't using the name or one very similar to it.

Is everyone or most people moving to DCUO?

I don't think anyone's planning on moving to DCUO per se; the game has a ton of potential, but it has some serious problems for RPers (the horrible chat in particular) and has made some pretty heavy compromises to appeal to PS3 gamers. Unless it gets a lot more PC-focused love than I think it's actually going to, it won't be a CoH substitute. It is a lot of fun though, worth checking out for a month or so as a second MMO.

Exactly. While I don't play CoH that much anymore, but DCUO ain't the reason for it and it's not going to anytime soon. The 3 hours and 47 minutes I played CoH doing 2 TFs today attest to that much. Especially when I was somewhat considering making a character and joining Warp after the 1st one before I saw the announcement for the second.

Definitely not moving there from CoH. The two games function differently on many levels. And to be perfectly honest this isn't the first cool MMO that a bunch of us want to play. There's no guarantee that we'll be playing it at all when, say, SWTOR comes out. For now it's just a fun second game for most of us. Not unlike L4D. Though for me I see this more as a possible replacement for WoW. It has all the same grinds as WoW with the different reputations and raid gear currency, but it's actually more fun to play. In fact a number of the hardcore WoW players that have been playing DCU all say they haven't set foot in Azeroth since they started playing this game. I think the key thing for this is whether I can, long term, keep playing this game solo and not get bored.

As for Leagues, Urban Legends actually sounds like it would be more fitting in the DC universe. Though obviously I'm still a big fan of Guardian Angels. Anything's good at this point.
